If You Pray, Pray for Them

The Shelley Long overdose story is a sad one, but why did this friend just watch her dip further and further away? I realize that it can be frightening as a friend to meddle to the point of calling for help, but better that than to wait until they are dead. When you see someone in bed for tens of hours at a time, giving away posessions, saying they have little to live for, call and ask a doctor what can be done. Often getting someone to talk to and life-saving anti-depressants can make all the difference. Mrs. Long has a 19 year old daughter.
